About the Director of Kenya Sunbeam Ministries
Ellen Allison is the full-time missionary working in Kenya with Kenya Sunbeam Ministries. She has been working in Kenya from 1998. Ellen left full-time employment in Belfast in 1996, and has been dedicating her life and work to KSM ever since. She does not take a salary from KSM, so she depends heavily on God for her provision. Her life before this was very different – She was a Nurse working in many hospitals and in the community in the Belfast area. Ellen also spent 6 months working abroad in St Helena as a Nurse.
Ellen became a Christian on the 1st March 1970 through the Youth Fellowship in Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church. From that point on she was very involved in church work in all areas. Ellen married in 1974 and had four children. Unfortunately, two of her children died so her eldest son is Simeon and her daughter is Alison; who is the mother of Ellen’s grandchildren Rebecca and Chloe.
Over the years Ellen has been very active in the church and after her marriage in 1974, she moved to a Pentecostal church and has remained in that type of church ever since.
Ellen’s home church is Carryduff Elim. As she is now a Kenyan citizen, she would only be home possibly once a year and tries to visit and worship there when she’s home. Ellen’s family are very supportive of her work in Kenya, and very much involved which is a great blessing.
Ellen is divorced so she does the work in Kenya on her own; “I can only give God the thanks and praise, for He has kept me and been my help in all areas of the work.
I also want to thank you all for your love and support and I appreciate your prayers.”
Who are we?
Kenya Sunbeam Ministries is a Northern Ireland based charity working in the Teso District of Western Kenya to be a beacon of light in a dark rural part of Africa. Through Ellen Allison, God has moved powerfully in that place and is bringing the hope of His Salvation into the lives of adults and children in the community. Ellen runs a children’s home where 43 abandoned or orphaned children now reside. Not only is she a mother to them, but she has set up a school called Rainbow Academy with over 100 children attending from both Sunbeam Children’s Home and the local community. Ellen is the local Pastor and has established a well attended church and prayer centre. She gives opportunity for education not only through the school, but through Shalom Bible School where local men and women can qualify with a Diploma in Pastoring. Ellen is the local Nurse and has great respect from the people in the area.
She is God’s hands and feet in the Teso District and He is doing great things through her service.
